Hire me for the work that's worth getting right.
I take on a small number of freelance engagements each year — usually a focused piece of native macOS or iOS work for a small team that cares about craft. If your project sounds like that, I'd love to hear about it.
What I offer
End-to-end builds
I take a project from "we have an idea" to a shipped app on the App Store — design, code, App Store assets, the lot. Best for small teams without a Mac/iOS developer in-house.
Specialist deep-dives
You already have an engineering team. You need someone who's actually shipped a CoreMediaIO extension, a system extension, an OCR pipeline, or a custom capture engine. I parachute in for the hard part.
Audit & advisory
Code review, architecture review, App Store readiness, performance tuning, or a second opinion on a tricky technical decision. Short, sharp, written up.
How working with me looks
Conversation
A short call (or just an email thread) to make sure we're a fit. No charge, no fluff.
Proposal
A written plan — scope, milestones, what success looks like, what it costs.
Build
Weekly demos, frequent commits, a shared TestFlight build from day one. No surprises.
Handover
Documented code, App Store readiness, and 30 days of post-launch support included.
What I'm great at
- Native Mac & iOS apps in Swift / SwiftUI
- Menu bar utilities, accessibility tooling, productivity apps
- Screen capture, virtual cameras, system extensions
- On-device ML / Vision & OCR pipelines
- Polishing prototypes into shippable, App Store-ready apps
- StoreKit 2, subscriptions, and pricing strategy
What I'm not the right fit for
- Cross-platform Electron / React Native projects
- Backend or infrastructure-heavy work
- Pure design work without an engineering component
- Crypto, ad-tech, or surveillance-adjacent products
- "Like Uber, but for X" with no clear scope
- Anything that needs more than one developer (it's just me)
Service FAQ
How much does a project cost?
End-to-end builds usually start around $12k and scale with scope. Specialist deep-dives are at a day rate. Audits are a fixed fee. I'll give you a clear number in the proposal — no estimates that mysteriously triple later.
How quickly can you start?
I keep my calendar deliberately thin. Worst case there's a 2–4 week wait. If it's urgent, say so in the first email.
Will you sign an NDA?
Yes, happily. A standard mutual NDA is fine; I'll suggest one if you don't have a preferred template.
Do you work fixed-price or hourly?
Fixed-price for well-defined scope, day rate for exploratory or open-ended work. Whichever serves the project — I don't have a religion about it.
Will the code be ours?
Yes. You own the source. I keep no rights to it. I may ask permission to mention the engagement in a portfolio entry; the answer can be no.
What happens after launch?
30 days of post-launch support is included in any full build. Beyond that we can agree a small monthly retainer, or you can ping me ad-hoc.
